Yankee Dental Convention

For the past three years, I've gone with Jonathan to the annual Yankee Dental Convention here in Boston. It is fun to visit the exhibits and watch Jonathan get excited about the latest dental technology. I liked the free samples of toothpaste, floss, and cavity-fighting gum. I often nodded my head in a thoughtful way when a salesman demonstrated something I was clueless about. Yup, as a dentist, one of those $300,000 gadgets would be helpful for my busy practice...

What does baseball have to do with dentistry? Who knows, but I confirmed that I throw like a girl. There was an exhibit that measured the speed of a baseball pitch. Similar to a batting cage. Jonathan threw at 54 mph. I throw at 23mph.

It was freezing cold outside. I thought my eyeballs had frozen while waiting for the bus. Jonathan thought my pout was funny, so he took this pic.

New England Winter

Since we've lived in Boston, the winters have been relatively mild. So, I wanted a BIG snowstorm this year. Well, I got it. Several storms actually. They shut down the city and cancelled church. I was giddy with excitement...until I had to finally go outside and drive in it.
This winter may be the last time we see snow for awhile as we will be in sunny Florida next year.

It's still a little strange to be married to my dentist. The first time I was his patient, back in 2007, he did a good job, but he sprayed water on my face, scratched my gums, and fumbled on the computer. He even had to numb my mouth for a simple cleaning. We laughed about it, knowing I was only his second "real" patient. (I'd like to think that I've literally put blood, sweat and tears into his education.) Memories of that appointment still make me smile.

Open Wide!

Last week, I returned to Tufts. He is such a pro! His hands are steady and he makes decisions with confidence. He acts and looks like a seasoned dentist. I'm so proud of him....even though I'd still rather fall in a pit with poisonous vipers than have my teeth scraped. No offense, honey.

Bumbo

Some of you who follow our blog have wanted to know what big plastic blob Katie is sitting in. I know its strange to see a baby her age sitting by herself. It's called a bumbo seat. We call it her "executive chair" from which she rules her world.

She likes it most of the time......

4 Months

We just got back from her 4 month checkup.

She weighs 15 pounds.
24 inches long.
Such a happy girl! (before her shots, anyway)

On another note, she does dress in other outfits besides this sleeper from Wal-Mart.
I guess I just get camera happy when she is dressed in yellow.

Jumperoo

Almost from the time she was born she had to be up and moving. She gets frustrated when she has to lay on her back. Thankfully I found this "jumperoo" on Craigslist.

If she could sit by herself, she would.
When she sits, she wants to stand
When she stands, she wants to walk and be mobile
If she could walk, I'm sure she would want to fly.

Sorry, sweetie, your mortal body can't fly, but you'll be walking soon enough...

We watched University of Florida play Oklahoma with friends at Nate and Melanie Cooper's home.
